Film Friday | Weekly Roundup

It’s been a fine week for silent film fans. The Oscar nominees for Best Picture include not only a movie about silent movies with Hugo, but also include an actual silent movie. Now we all need to put on our black turtle necks and adopt a disaffected air to assure everyone that we liked silent movies before they were popular. Of course, I’m sure that Hollywood studios are rushing out to option more silent movies, because that’s how this works right? This is the end of the talkies, right? Meh, probably not but let’s make hay while the sun shines, mon cheries. And let’s get down to it with the Film Friday Weekly Roundup. Happy reading and happy viewing!

  1. Agree with the Oscar-hate. And I’ll take it a step further. For me, TCM’s “31 Days of Oscar” is like a desert in the middle of an oasis. Take that, classic movie fans.
