B-Day Shoutout to Sergei Eisenstein, the “Father of Montage”

Sergei Eisenstein was born January 23, 1898. Since he’s often referred to as the “Father of Montage,” I suppose today is also montage’s birthday. I also suppose we can debate that whole father of montage mumbo jumbo, but I am sure of one thing, my friends – Sergei Eisenstein, hands down, wins the coveted Hair Do of the Millennium award. Film Friday | Weekly Roundup

Well it’s another week done gone, ladies and gents! The weather in Toronto is a little nutty, ranging from downright nippy to warm enough for a/c in a single day. In true Canadian fashion, as soon as the sun peeks out, every man, woman, and child heads outside under the banner of “this might be the last nice day!” (Canadians go a bit fruity about summer, ya’ll.) But Pretty Clever Film Gal, for one, is looking forward to a beautiful autumn, shorter days, and longer nights for movie watching! October is a fine month on TCM with tons of Buster Keaton and drive-in horror movies, so warm up the dvrs.
